At plant.furniture we believe that plants add something extra to almost any interior scheme. We also believe that those plants will always look better when combined with a beautiful planter.
The problem: the selection of planters in high street stores, nurseries and supermarkets can often make even the most exotic and unusual plant look underwhelming.
We set out to find a better alternative.
On our mission to find the the best planters available we fell in love with West German planters of the 1960s and 70s (as well as similar styles produced in East Germany, the Netherlands and Italy).
Planters produced in this period by companies such as Marei, Scheurich, Jopeko, Fohr and Strehla include a myriad of styles, colours and textures that can make even the most familiar plant look fantastic.
Combining a beautiful plant with one of our vintage planters creates a statement that can act as the centrepiece for any interior, rather than a support act.
They also add a level of design and craftsmanship that is hard to find in a modern product.
As well as sourcing the best planters from the 1960s and 70s we have been working hard to bring these designs back to life.
To do this we have created a range of new products, manufactured in an original German factory using the same techniques and with the same levels of craftsmanship.
With these new products we hope to revive and showcase the beauty of midcentury art pottery in a way that captures the imagination of both new and existing fans.
